The Maine Street Jazzmen are a popular Tyneside based traditional jazz band, who include some very experienced local musicians in their lineup.  The band is led by Herbie on trombone, harmonica & vocals,  and Jim is on clarinet & sax.  The rhythm section is  Malcolm on the keyboard, Ian or Mike on the drums and Alan on the Double Bass.  We also have a fine guest vocalist called Olive , who sings with the band on most of our gigs. The band has some regular pub and jazz club gigs details of which can be found by following the links to our GIG list .

The repertoire of the band is mainly taken from the classic traditional jazz repertoire originated in America by Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Bob Crosby, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, etc which was later revived in the UK by Alex Welsh, Chris Barber, Kenny Ball & Acker Bilk. The Music is equally suitable for dancing as well as pub & club gigs.  If you would like to contact the band follow the link to our CONTACTS page.
